Now that we know what body shaming is - we are going to learn how to stop it.
Here are 5 tips on how to kick body shaming in the butt!
1. STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS
We are all made up differently.
Different bone structure.
Different face shape.
Just BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE!
2. THE REALIZATION THAT WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT SHAPES AND SIZES
This is really a reiteration of number 1.
Beauty is not one size fits all.
Did you know - 5% of the population have the same body type as the 'thin and beautiful' that we see in the media.
Which means - 95% of us are trying to be someone we are not.
We are trying to achieve the impossible.
3. REPLACE THE NEGATIVE WITH THE POSITIVE
Check yourself before you wreck yourself.
When you catch yourself in a negative thought
Replace it with positive affirmations.
And keep repeating this process until the negativity is banished :)
Be sure to dish out the compliments.
Compliments uplift everyone - and put smiles on peoples faces.
Compliment your mom, your best-friend, a colleague, the woman stood next to you in the grocery store line up.
But also. Be sure to compliment yourself.
It works exactly the same way as when you say lovely things to others.
Say them too yourself.
And when someone else compliments you - ACCEPT IT!
Yoga teaches us to move out of the mind into the body.
And try defining beauty as a state of mind rather than a look.
